A. INTRODUCTION
Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) is a
global integrated business enterprise that develops and operates businesses
across virtually every industry,including industrial finance, energy, metals,machinery,
chemicals, and daily living essentials. With over 200 offices and subsidiaries
in some 90 countries worldwide and a network of approximately 1,200 group
companies, MC employs a multinational workforce of over 68,000 people.
Corporate Philosophy – Three Corporate
Principles
The Three Corporate Principles were formulated in 1934, as
the action guidelines of Mitsubishi Trading Company (Mitsubishi Shoji Kaisha),
based on the teachings of Koyata Iwasaki, the fourth president of Mitsubishi.
B. CORPORATE
HISTORY
Foundation to 1970s
In 1954
the new Mitsubishi Shoji was founded, and that same year was listed on both the
Tokyo and Osaka stock exchanges.
The 2000s
In 2001, MC introduced “MC2003”, an aggressive new
blueprint for growth, involving an expansion
of the company’s value chains, a strengthening of its
profitability, and focused strategies to create
new businesses.
In 2004, “INNOVATION 2007” was unveiled which sought to
establish MC as a “New Industry Innovator,” with an aim to open up a new era
and grow hand in hand with society.
In 2007, MC newly established the Business Innovation Group
and Industrial Finance, Logistics &
Development Group.
Then, in 2008, MC announced its management plan,
“INNOVATION 2009.”
In 2009, MC systematically reorganized the Business
Innovation Group and established its Corporate Development Section.
2010-2016
MC released “Compressed natural gas van Minicab CNG”.
Escondida MC mine working in Chili produced more than 1
million copper each year. This is the biggest copper mine working in the world.
MC signed a pact with PSA Peugeot Citroen for cooperation
in electric motorcar . “i-MiEV” won “Most Advanced Technology” in Special
Achievement Award 2009-2010.
“Mitsubishi Motors group Environmental Vision 2020” was built
by MC.
Europe basic production reached cummulative production from
1 million units.
